Captain’s log

My BVI business is officially up and running and I have just completed three trips in the BVI, two aboard 56 ft. power boats and one aboard a 42 ft. sailing catamaran.

The first trip aboard a 56 ft. power boat, from Virgin Traders, was with the BVI Tourist Board for a photo shoot for marketing and promoting the BVI. Of course the photo shoot included beautiful models (life is tough:) and some rather outgoing, fun and interesting members of the BVI Tourist Board.

A 4:00AM departure, in the dark, from Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour allowed us to be anchored off the beautiful palm-treed beach at Peter Island where the models changed into bikinis to be photographed at first morning light. After the photo shoot at Peter Island, it was off to Norman Island for more photos, lunch and jumping off the Willy T.

Those of you who are familiar with the Willy T floating bar and restaurant and know of it’s reputation for drinking and debauchery with body shots on the bar and naked women jumping off the top deck for a free t-shirt will be either interested or disappointed to learn that jumping from the Willy T has been stopped by the government after some drunken bozo banged his head almost killed himself after jumping off.

The second trip I did in the BVI was aboard a 42 ft. sailing catamaran with a group of boy scouts and leaders from Houston, Texas. There were three sailing catamarans traveling together with the same boy scout troop. The scouts learned sailing, knots, star identification and snorkeling skills and earned several merit badges on this trip.

My third trip in mid-June was back aboard a 56 ft. power boat, again from Virgin Traders. It was with the wonderful Moser family from Dallas, Texas. We had a great tour of the BVI visiting many of the islands while enjoying a great lobster dinner on the island of Anegada and a fabulous lunch at Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke.
