December, the last month of the year 2007! Time flies by when you're having fun. Speaking of having fun, I did two very pleasant  motor yacht charters in the BVI with fun people along with reasonably good weather. Another fun motor yacht charter started late in December and runs through New Years and early on into January, 2008.
New Year celebrations are popular here in the BVI. The big ones are at Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke and at The Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda. My group wanted to go to Foxy's so we arrived at Little Harbour, Jost Van Dyke early enough to secure a spot on the dock at Sidney's Peace and Love bar and restaurant to have easy access to land so everyone could come and go as pleased. We had two 56ft Horizon motor yachts traveling in tandem.
As the afternoon of the 31st wore on, more and more boats piled into Little Harbour. The above photo was taken overlooking Little Harbour at about 2:30 in the afternoon. Many boats anchor in Great Harbour where Foxy's is but it usually gets quite over-crowded and anchoring in the harbour is known to have poor holding. It can be a bit of a zoo.
January and February look to be a bit slow so I have booked time off in late January and early February to visit The Dominican Republic, Fort Lauderdale and the Miami Boat Show.
In the winter months here in the BVI, we tend to get a little stronger winds and higher seas than we do in the summer. The stronger winds are called "The Christmas Winds" because they usually arrive just before Christmas. Air temperature this time of year sees mid 80°'s (28°C) during the day and the other night it got down to a whopping 67° (19°C). Sure beats shoveling snow!!
